FormulateIt ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights when you use FormulateIt at formulateit.net.

By using FormulateIt, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Payment information — Processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
• Name and email address — Collected at checkout by Stripe to send your access confirmation.
• Business name — Collected optionally at checkout for invoice and receipt purposes.
• Recipe and formulation data — Entered by you in the app. Processed in your browser and sent to our AI service only when you request AI analysis. We do not store your recipes on our servers.
• Usage data — Basic analytics such as page views, collected via Vercel Analytics. No cookies are used.

How We Use Your Information

• To process your payment and grant access to the app
• To send your purchase confirmation and access token
• To generate AI-powered food science analysis when you request it
• To understand how the app is used so we can improve it
• To comply with legal obligations

Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate FormulateIt:

• Stripe — Payment processing. Stripe handles all payment data under their own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
• Anthropic Claude API — Powers AI food science analysis. Recipe data submitted for analysis is processed by Anthropic under their usage policies.
• Vercel — Hosts the application and provides privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics.
• Upstash Redis — Used for API rate limiting only. No personal data is stored.

Data Retention

We do not maintain a user account database. Your recipe and formulation data stays in your browser — when you close the app, it is gone unless you download your recipe file. Payment and contact records are retained by Stripe according to their data retention policies.

Cookies

FormulateIt does not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. Vercel Analytics collects anonymous usage data without cookies or persistent identifiers.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request information about what personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your personal data
• Opt out of any future communications from us
• Contact Stripe directly to manage your payment data

Since we do not maintain user accounts or store recipe data, most personal data is held by Stripe in connection with your purchase. Contact us or Stripe directly with any data requests.

Children's Privacy

FormulateIt is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of FormulateIt after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
